Sulfur Springs police arrested a 41-year-old man who was driving a car that was stolen from Austin. A stolen military ID was found in his possession.
SSPD was dispatched to reports on a suspicious vehicle early Monday morning. A file review revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Austin and the officer initiated a stop on Joseph Todd Billingsley.
A clear bag of methamphetamine was freely visible during the stop. Billingsley was taken into custody and a search of his person revealed a Texas driver’s license and military ID that did not belong to him.
Billingsley is currently being held in Hopkins County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of identification information on fewer than 5 items.
