Do you think you can write a better fun safety-themed highway sign than the folks at the Texas Department of Transportation? You have until December 8th to prove it.
Sign makers like “Only Rudolph Should Drive With Lights” want your ideas for these electronic message boards along the highways of Texas.
CONNECTION | Who writes the “funny little messages” on signs along Austin Roads?
There are some rules for the competition:
- The message must also be accepted to draw attention to the dangers of frequent driving errors such as distracted driving, driving disorders, failure to wear seat belts, exceeding speed, etc.
- #Hashtags, phone numbers, and website addresses are not allowed.
- The signs offer space for up to two foils, each with three lines and up to 15 characters per line.
According to TxDOT, the top 10 entries will be submitted to a public vote and three winners will be selected to have their message displayed on highway signs nationwide. Take part in the competition here.
The city of Austin held a similar competition a few years ago that came up with both good and incredibly bad proposals.
