AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 100 pounds of marijuana Saturday, Dec. 14, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2020 Jeep traveling east on I-40 near Vega, for a traffic violation. An Oldham County Sheriff’s Office Canine unit arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in the vehicle.
The driver – Spencer Schamun, of North Beach, California – and passenger – Benjamin Levine, of Laguna Beach, California, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. In addition, Levine was charged with money laundering. Schamun, 32, and Levine, 33, were transported and booked into the Oldham County Jail.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Las Vegas, Nevada to an unknown destination.
