Do you live in a high risk COVID-19 zip code?
Over the next three weeks at NRG Park, 126,000 people are expected to be vaccinated against the coronavirus with a first dose at the mega location. A return is planned for the second dose.
The website will serve 6,000 a day seven days a week.
Today, with help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Houston and Harris Counties are prioritizing vaccinating residents in certain high-risk zip codes.
FEMA will pay for the vaccination equipment and staff. According to a press release from the Houston Health Department and Harris County Public Health, zip codes for vaccine prioritization come from “identified by COVID-19 positivity rate, underlying health status, economic and social data. “
“HCPH will prioritize areas where COVID health disparities have appeared (using the CDC Social Vulnerability Index and data shows there is 1), increased COVID cases or deaths, and / or COVID subtests),” it said in the press release.

“We’re one of only two or three in the nation that distributes such a large number of vaccines,” Harris County judge Lina Hidalgo said on a Twitter video.

Hidalgo called the collaboration and mega-site “good news” and “hope” for the area that was badly devastated by the Texas power outage last week.
There is currently no FEMA vaccination site in San Antonio or Ausin, only in Harris, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties. Here are the San Antonio zip codes that have been hit hardest by the virus.
