CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – Nine days after his disappearance, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Search and Rescue continue to search for Texas State University student Jason Landry.
After the Texas Department of Public Safety searched the area of 4700 Salt Flat Road outside Luling, where Landry’s Nissan Altima was found destroyed and abandoned on Dec. 14, DPS turned the investigation over to Caldwell County, Sheriff Daniel Law said.

The crews searched more than 20,000 acres using “all possible means of searching,” Law said. He said the crews covered nearly 4,000 acres on foot, by horses and dogs, and nearly 17,000 acres by drones and helicopters.
Law says the sheriff’s office has received numerous tips about where Landry might be and they are investigating all of them.
Texas Search and Rescue and Texas Equusearch helped with the search, although Texas Equusearch stopped its involvement in the search on Tuesday.

“We’re not going to speculate about what might have happened [sic] to Jason, but we believe the wide area around the scene of the accident has been thoroughly searched … and Jason has still not been found, ”Texas told EquuSearch.
The nonprofit said they could join the search again once law enforcement provides information on a more specific area to search.
Landry was reported missing after leaving college for his home in Missouri City, southwest of Houston, on December 13, but never arriving.
Tips in this case should be directed to Detective Jeff Ferry at the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. His phone number is (512) 398-6777 x4516.
