AUSTIN, Texas (KTRK) – Hackers may have stolen information on millions of Texas drivers, according to a report from an insurance risk management firm.
According to Vertafore, someone has accessed driver’s license numbers, names, dates of birth, addresses, and vehicle registration histories.
The Texas Department of Public Security and the Texas Attorney General were among those affected.
“Vertafore recently discovered that, due to human error, three data files were accidentally stored in an unsecured external storage service that appeared to have been accessed without authorization,” the company posted on its website.
