The most important indoor water park in Texas is now open


ROUND ROCK, Texas – One of America’s largest indoor water parks opens on Thursday in Round Rock, north of Austin.

Going to a water park in November might not sound like a great idea, although anyone who really knows the Texas weather, but an indoor water park allows year-round visits no matter what the outside world is like.

The 350-acre resort complex will include a 223,000-square-foot water park, placing it second behind New Jersey’s DreamWorks Water Park, a 370,260-square-foot water park.

That ranking is according to Trip Savvy, a website that lists America’s second largest indoor water park as the Kalahari Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania.

The Kalahari Round Rock Resort is expected to have 975 guest rooms, five restaurants, 10,000 square feet of retail space, and 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space for meetings and events.

Twenty pools and hot tubs and 30 water slides are located throughout the Kalahari Round Rock Resort. Attractions include FlowRider, a climbing wall, 23-foot LED projection television screen, adult swim bar, cabanas, and waterfalls.

“We have 1.5 million square meters of play area and space to roam. It’s been a challenging year and what better way to get away from it all and enjoy the time to have fun together as a family and community, ”said Todd Nelson, owner of the Kalahari.

According to a press release from Kalahari, there will be 22 life-size sculptures across the property, including 12 elephants, seven zebras, a mother-baby rhinoceros and a Cape buffalo. Each sculpture weighs up to 10,000 pounds and some are up to 10 feet tall.

The African resort and water park is located on US 79 near Old Settlers Park.
