LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – An effort is being made to make the Texas highways a safe place for all drivers.
The Texas Thunder program is led by the Texas Department of Public Safety to tackle unsafe commercial vehicles as well as passenger cars that drive unsafe on the road.
The program coordinators go out a few times a year to check that the drivers and their vehicles are complying with the rules.
“We usually do our operations here about four times a year because … to keep unsafe CMV vehicles off the highway and also to deter criminal activity that is also happening,” said AJ Medina.
Medina says some of the most common problems he sees are bad tires and breaks on trailers.
Those who find a violation can be quoted.
