The Texas Transportation Fee appoints Marc Williams as the brand new TxDOT Government Director

AUSTIN – The Texas Transportation Commission today elected Marc Williams as the new Executive Director of the Texas Department of Transportation. Williams, who has been the agency’s deputy managing director since 2016, will take up his new role on June 1, 2021.

Williams has been with TxDOT since 2012 when he joined the department as Director of Planning and held that role until 2015 when he was named Deputy Director of TxDOT. Prior to joining TxDOT, Williams held senior positions with a variety of public and private sector organizations involved in the design, development and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects in the United States.

“Marc Williams has proven himself to be a respected leader in transportation in both Texas and nationally,” said J. Bruce Bugg Jr., chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission. “Marc brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities we will face in the future and is an excellent person to lead the 12,000 women and men at TxDOT. TxDOT is in good hands. “

Williams is a graduate of Texas A&M University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas.

Williams is the division’s 22nd executive director.
