According to TxDOT, every fifth accident is associated with distracted driving.

“Of course, as cell phone usage increases, we believe the number of crashes will increase. States and cities are putting out laws and regulations that prohibit the use of cell phones,” Morrow said.

Texting and driving are illegal in Texas. According to Aceable.com, Texas driving laws tend to be stricter than other states.

“We believe these laws will get stricter in the years to come just because there are so many deaths we see from distracted driving,” Morrow said.
